First Direct Observation of Collider Neutrinos with the FASER Experiment - PRL Journal Club

At the FASER experiment, which is located at the Large Hadron Collider, a first direct observation of neutrinos has been achieved.

Celebrating 70 years of CERN , Bonn and Siegen

On the occasion of the 70th birthday of CERN, the University of Siegen has invited students of upper secondary schools and their teachers to attend a theme day revolving around the institute and its research highlights. Besides games and expert talks by Prof. Dr. Alexander Lenz and CERN scientists, the celebrations included a poster and short-video contest for groups of up to four students with an excursion to CERN to win among other prizes. The amazing three winning contributions can be watched here.

Also in Bonn a programme was offered to celebrate 70 years of CERN. The programme spanned from particle physics shows and science slams to a symposium on CERN with birthday cake supply. More information can be found in this article published by the University of Bonn.

New World Record: Thinnest Ever Pixel Detector Installed in Belle II

With contribution of the Bonn LHCb group, a new pixel detector was developed for the Belle II experiment in Japan.
The new detector is about the size of a soda can, and thus the thinnest pixel detector installed to date.

Precise measurement of the unitarity triangle angle β

A new measurement of the observable sin2β with the full Run 2 dataset of the LHCb experiment achieved unmatched precision.
The Dortmund LHCb group significantly contributed to this efforts.

LHCb Exhibition Opens at CERN

On March 3, 2023, the LHCb exhibition was opened in the surface hall of the experiment.
Many members from the LHCb collaborators, as well as from the CERN Education, Communications and Outreach team attended the opening.
