The following advanced lectures in the fields of hadron and particle physics (M.Sc. and doctorate level) at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Technische Universität Dortmund and Universität Siegen will be open to students from all three universities with participation via Zoom or in presence. Under the title color-meets-flavor the lectures cover and combine the topics of quantum chromodynamics and flavor physics.
Credits obtained in the courses can be officially recognised at all three universities, please coordinate your courses with the contact persons. A form for use at TU Dortmund can be found here.

Prof. Dr. Joachim Brod (joachim.brod(at)uc.edu)
Abstract:
In the first part (~ 3 lectures) I will discuss the basics of renormalization (basic ideas, renormalized Lagrangian, calculation of one-loop graphs in scalar theory, on-shell and MSbar scheme, renormalization group). In the second part (~ 3 lectures), I will discuss renormalization of QED (power counting, on-shell renormalization, calculation of tensor integrals). If time allows, I will give a brief introduction to infrared divergences. In the exercises, we will learn how to calculate one-loop scalar and tensor integrals, and calculate the renormalization group evolution in a simple scalar theory.
